Meet Acelin Hampton. He is a 21-year old recording artist and entrepreneur hailing from Denton, Texas. Follow this link to watch one of his music videos. You should also meet Pablo, the puppy Hampton adopted three months ago. The pup and its human have clearly become fast companions. Here is a picture of the two of them together, presumably cruising around Denton.
Of course, Pablo is a puppy, and like any puppy he is getting adjusted to his new life as a house dog. That means, of course, that accidents are definitely prone to happen, especially in the early going. Getting a new dog sufficiently house trained is one of the biggest initial obstacles any dog-owner faces in those first few months. As a new dog owner, you are trying to set a standard for the animal’s behavior for pretty much the rest of its days, so training well, and training early are crucial in order to get your dog practicing the correct habits. Talking with Buzzfeed News, Hampton said that progress in Pablo’s training has been made. He noted that, while there certainly have been some accidents, Pablo has “gotten good with using the restroom outside.” Here is Pablo, who is a super cute doggo and not at all a bad boy. You can’t possibly imagine getting mad at that face, even when he does make a mess.
And when Pablo does have an accident, Hampton will generally clean the puppy puddles with toilet paper as the dog watches on. That doesn’t mean that Pablo is necessarily beholden to the product’s practical uses, however, as he’s definitely made a mess with the stuff in the past. In the same Buzzfeed interview, Hampton noted that Pablo once “took some toilet paper and ripped it up all around my room.” So far, everything about Pablo screams “classic dog.” But none of this sets up what happened next.
As you’ll see in the above photo, Pablo had a little bit of an accident while in the care of one of Hampton’s friends. Unable to hold in his pee, Pablo made a small mess in the bathroom, but when Hampton returned he found that the dog had pulled toilet paper from the roll to pile it on the wet spot. Pablo had actually tried to clean up after himself–pretty impressive for such a young doggo.
Hampton Tweeted out the image of the strategically placed toilet paper heap, with a caption reading, “My dog Pablo pissed on the floor and tried to clean it up. Really can’t even whoop his ass for this one.” This is a very true statement, because we should do nothing but reward those who try and clean up their messes, no matter how inert or futile their attempts may be. If he didn’t fully succeed in cleaning up his pee, at least Pablo made a noble attempt at doing so.
And, as is frequently the case with these things, people on Twitter responded, agreeing with Hampton’s “at least he tried” take while laughing hysterically at the whole thing. @thacapitalj tweeted the understanding and empathetic, “Lmao. You gotta just sit down and talk to him at this point. He tried.” @lizzkkhalifa just couldn’t get over the “lols” and adorableness of the ordeal, tweeting, “this is so cute LMAO.” Giving credit where credit is due, user @Bilennn tweeted simply, “I’m impressed.”
Of course, Hampton knows that Pablo aims to impress his human pal. He thinks that Pablo learned this cleaning method from his dad and wanted to prove his instinct and intelligence. He told Buzzfeed, “He does a lot of things that let me know he’s pretty smart.” And now we all know what a smart dog Pablo is. Here’s one more picture of this precious pup, for the road.
Good job, Pablo! May you be rewarded with as much kibble as your puppy brain can imagine.
