The summer months are on their way, and with them the impending threat of wedding season. Meaning, get ready to shell out a bunch of money on your friend from grade school’s elaborate destination nuptials (and that ridiculous monogramed wine chiller from the wedding registry). And while the seemingly endless parade of people you know tying the knot in increasingly elaborate fashions can become tiring, there should always be room in your heart for the love shared between two adorable doggos.
And that’s why we should all cherish the sacred bond shared by Lally and her now husband Kian, two shih tzus that will put all your #relationshipgoals in check. The two pups, who hail from Laguna, Philippines, had been dating for over a year when they got engaged last February. Che Vienes, a canine and feline photographer who also happens to be friends with Lally’s human Theresa, captured the engagement with these wonderful photos.
They got married, on a beach at Patungan Cove in Cavite–a province of the Philippines two hours west of Laguna (so, it was something of a destination wedding)–in a ceremony that everyone in attendance is certain to remember for the rest of their lives. It was also the very first documented dog wedding in the Philippines, so something of a milestone.
Vienes snapped some great photos at the event, meaning we can all share in the love Lally and Kian have for each other. Here are the happy bride and groom on their special day.
The wedding was officiated by this regal Boston Terrier, in what appears to be elaborate papal garb…
And the ring bearer was a blind dog named Hercules.
Two days prior to the wedding, Vienes shared this heartfelt message to Lally on her Facebook page. Just try not to shed a tear:
On Saturday March 4, 2017 is your wedding day and I couldn’t be happier for you as you embark on the next stage of your life with Kian. We are thrilled to be standing next to you for the moment your future begins. Here are a few things I want you to remember on the day of your wedding…_
It is going to be a whirlwind of pictures, flowers, dresses, emotions, and most importantly, joy. Remember to take in it all in slowly, and breathe. Don’t get lost in the craziness of the day; remember to enjoy and appreciate these moments that you’ll remember for the rest of your life. We are all so proud of you. Your family, friends and especially me, are unbelievably proud of the furbaby you have become. Everything you have achieved thus far is well-deserved and a source of constant inspiration for me.
Above all, I hope you remember how much fun your big day will be. It will be easy to get caught up in the scheduling, timing and stress that your wedding day holds. Don’t forget that at the end of the day it is about you and your worthy prince. Everyone you love is celebrating with you and the love of your life, as you two embark on your greatest adventure yet.
This Saturday is a big day. It is going to be beautiful; all of the hard work you have done will certainly pay off and I can’t wait to be by your side, watching you live the Dog Wedding of the year…
All my love, Che Vienes
Oh, we just got something in our eye.
Vienes would later say of the wedding, “It was emotional,” and it’s easy to understand how that was the case. We can all hope to find someone who loves us as much as Lally and Kian love each other. Or at the very least, we can all hope to get invited to more (or at the very least, just one) dog weddings in the future. They look super fun!
